How Does the WoW Mythic+ Title Cutoff Work?

Here's how the Mythic+ title cutoff works, from the Top 0.1% rule to tie handling and regional differences — plus links to the live numbers.

What Percentage of Players Get the Mythic+ Title?

The Mythic+ title (usually the Hero title, renamed each season) goes to roughly the top 0.1% of rated Mythic+ players in a region. The exact boundary is a rank, not a rounded percentage: the game counts eligible players and awards the title to those at or above the 0.1% rank. Everyone below that boundary — including the top 1% tier — does not earn the title.

How the Top 0.1% Cutoff Is Calculated

The cutoff is the Mythic+ Rating of the player who sits exactly at the boundary rank. The boundary rank is the largest whole rank that covers 0.1% of eligible players:

For example, with 400,000 eligible players the boundary rank is 400 — the cutoff is the 400th-highest rating, whatever that number happens to be. As more players climb, the rating at that rank rises, and so does the cutoff.

boundary rank = max(1, floor(eligible players × 0.001))

What Happens When Players Tie at the Cutoff?

Ratings are whole numbers, so several players often share the exact cutoff score. In that case, the title is decided by leaderboard rank at that score — players at the boundary rank or better qualify, while ties beyond the boundary rank do not. A small score difference can therefore decide qualification near the line. The displayed cutoff is the score at the boundary rank; it does not move just because more players tie below it.

Why US and EU Cutoffs Can Be Different

US and EU Mythic+ ladders are separate, with different player populations and different pushing patterns, so the Top 0.1% boundary lands on a different rating in each region. The tracker calculates and displays each region's cutoff independently from its own ladder data. One region's cutoff is not an estimate of the other's.

Top 1% vs Top 0.1% Mythic+ Thresholds

Top 1% and Top 0.1% are different reward thresholds. Top 1% grants a seasonal percentile reward, while the Mythic+ title belongs to the Top 0.1% boundary described above. A rating above the Top 1% threshold can still be below the title cutoff. The tracker focuses on the Top 0.1% title cutoff and shows Top 1% as a secondary reference.
